Claire Evans is a motoring journalist with more than 30 years’ experience, and has been consumer editor of What Car? since 2016.

Having spent much of her career focussing on consumer-related motoring issues, Claire spent six years with Which?, culminating her time there as motoring editor. Claire has also written for The Times, The Daily Telegraph, The Daily Mail, The Evening Standard and other national newsstand titles.

As consumer editor for What Car?, Claire investigates current issues that affect motorists, often holding those in authority to account when they don’t treat car owners as they should. She is responsible for the annual What Car? Reliability Survey, which provides car buyers with vital information on the durability of many makes and models of cars, and also informs the new and used car reviews that are so highly regarded by What Car? readers.

Claire has appeared on the BBC and Sky News talking about motoring issues, and spoken on national and regional radio.

After starting out as a collector and restorer of classic cars, Claire studied journalism at Highbury College in Portsmouth.
