Should I buy one?
Any sort of driver’s car that doesn’t quite hit the spot on performance or dynamic entertainment can only earn qualified praise, and there’s no mistaking that the Audi S5 is vulnerable to criticism for its effective but slightly anodyne engine, and its secure but straight-laced handling. If you want a fast coupé that’s fun to drive over and above everything else, there are plenty of better ways to spend your money.
But if your tastes are more mature and pragmatic, with everyday, any-weather, any-occasion use in mind, you should definitely consider the S5. It might not excite quite as vividly as some, but as something to live with and to appreciate at a relaxed pace as well as a hurried one, it’s a strong contender.
