80g/km Suzuki due in 2014

Suzuki will launch an all-new city car in 2014 and it will have CO2 emissions from just 80g/km.

The new model will be powered by a development of the Suzuki Alto's 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine and, based on its incredibly low CO2 output, it should be able to offer average economy of 81mpg. That's around 9mpg more than any current petrol-only car can manage.

Suzuki's sales and marketing manager, Dale Wyatt, told What Car? that the new Volkswagen Up rival which is yet to be named will replace both the Alto and Splash, but will be closer in size to that of the larger car.

He also revealed that prices are expected to start from around 8000.
