Aren't electric cars just for cranks?

Electric vehicles are just for a few cranks, though, aren't they?
Nissan claims that 47% of European drivers say they would consider an EV as long as it fitted into their lifestyle.

'The customer will not change his or her life habits just to have new technology,' Nissan admits.

The main obstacles to overcome are cost (mentioned by 67% of people questioned), range anxiety (61%) and the limited choice of EVs currently on offer (51%). Performance, safety and the appearance of EVs were other factors worrying potential buyers.
