Look past the blue detailing, fancy wheels and reshaped grille and you’ll essentially find a BMW X3, but with the conventional engine replaced by an electric motor and big battery. Although this could have easily led to a half-baked compromise, the reality is a fine large SUV.

It’s not quite as comfy as the Audi E-tron and its interior isn’t quite as snazzy, but it more than makes up for that by, well, being a zero-emissions BMW X3. And while the iX3 is no sports SUV, it steers and handles far better than the majority of other electric SUVs (including the E-tron and I-Pace), while also providing a comfortable ride, even on standard 20in wheels. That extra peace of mind and fewer stops should make family trips far less stressful.
