Citroen C4 Cactus vs Skoda Octavia

Our verdict

In the new C4 Cactus, CitroΓ«n has succeeded in building a car that’s memorable, but not for all the right reasons. Even if you can look past the infuriating infotainment system, awkwardly shaped boot and noisy engine, it’s hard to forgive the Cactus for its poor handling and largely disappointing ride.

That makes the Octavia’s win all the more convincing. Yes, it costs more to buy outright and run, but its extra practicality, more sophisticated ride and handling and better driving position make it the more appealing proposition. With such a broad range of abilities, the Octavia continues to be the best family car you can currently buy.
