Dacia Spring is now the UK’s cheapest car at less than £12k
The all-electric Dacia Spring now costs less than any other car on the market...

The Dacia Spring now costs just £11,990 to buy, reducing its on-the-road price by £4000 and making it the cheapest five-seat passenger car on sale in the UK.
This reduction comes after prices for the Spring’s biggest rival, the Leapmotor T03, were slashed by £3000 after the brand doubled its £1500 Leap-Grant, which was introduced to match the Government’s band two Electric Car Grant. With this grant applied, T03 starts at £12,995 – £1005 more than the now-discounted Spring.
The entry-level Spring Electric 70 uses a 24.3kWh battery alongside a 69bhp electric motor. It’s good for an official range of 140 miles, but the Leapmotor T03 can go farther on paper, with an official figure of 165 miles.

If you want more power, there’s the Spring Extreme Electric 100, which costs £1000 more than the entry-level variant, at £12,990. It comes with a punchier 99bhp electric motor – good for a 0-62mph sprint in 9.6sec – but keeps the same 140-mile range.
As standard, every version of the Spring comes with air conditioning, cruise control, rear parking sensors and a 7.0in digital driver’s display.
Stepping up to the Extreme specification gets you a 10.1in infotainment touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, electric rear windows, a reversing camera and vehicle-to-load functionality.

While the Spring is now the cheapest car on sale in the UK, we would argue there are alternatives that act as better all-rounders, including the T03. For example, the Citroën ë-C3 has a much longer official range of almost 200 miles, while the BYD Dolphin has more space inside.
Dacia will also launch a brand new city car next year, and it’ll be called the New Spring. Based on the Renault Twingo, the New Spring will go on sale alongside the current Spring, and it should also have some more impressive figures, though it will be more expensive to buy, at an expected £16,000.
