Deal of the Day: Lease a Volkswagen Polo from £221 per month

If you’re in the market for a small car, chances are you’re already considering the Volkswagen Polo. This model has long been a staple on our roads, and in our opinion, it’s one of the best small cars you can buy.
Indeed, the latest Polo is even bigger than the model it succeeds, plus it’s better to drive and is very polished inside. So, if that all sounds good to you, then you might be pleased to know that you could put a new one on your driveway for as little as £221 per month.
To do that, you’ll need to opt for a 36-month contract with an annual mileage limit of 5000 miles, and an initial payment of £2641.70. The annual 5000 mile restriction isn’t a huge allowance, so you’ll have to be careful to avoid excess mileage charges.
If you regularly cover more miles, you could opt for a more common 36-month, 10,000-mile agreement with six months initial rental (£1681.21), which will cost £280.20 per month.

The Polo comes with a variety of petrol engines, but our Deal of the Day comes with the 1.0 TSI 115, which pumps out 114bhp. It’s peppier than the entry-level 94bhp engine and can sprint from 0-62mph in 9.8sec – on par with the entry-level Seat Ibiza.
You shouldn’t have any issues getting comfortable in the Polo, because it’s one of the smoothest-riding small cars on the market. Around town, it handles lumps and bumps in the road better than an Ibiza – only the comfort-focused versions of the Peugeot 208 and Skoda Fabia have it beat.
Inside, the Polo gets a smart, polished interior that’s a cut above the rest. Indeed, you’ll find very few scratchy plastics, with most surfaces covered by soft-touch materials. All versions come with a leather steering wheel and gearstick.
Elsewhere, there’s an 8.0in infotainment touchscreen alongside a 10.25in digital driver’s display behind the wheel. You get Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as standard – but our Deal of the Day also comes with a built-in sat-nav.
For a small car, the Polo is surprisingly spacious inside. Tall adults will have plenty of head room up front, and if you slide the seats back on their runners, there’s lots of leg room too. Rear passengers will be similarly comfortable, even if there is a touch more leg room in the Ibiza. With 351 litres of boot space, the Polo is competitive still – we managed to squeeze in five carry-on suitcases below the parcel shelf.
