Gordon Murray Design in tech deal

Gordon Murray Design has chosen Toray Industries to be its technical partner from now on.

The partnership will work on several areas, including Gordon Murray Designs iStream car manufacturing process. This uses a manufacturing process where major components are fitted directly to the chassis before pre-painted exterior body panels are added.

The Teewave AR.1 prototype electric sports car was the result of the two companies previous project together. Revealed at last years Tokyo motor show, it showcased items close to each firms core values, including Torays advanced eco-materials and carbon-reinforced plastics technology.

The Teewave AR.1 weighs just 846kg including the lithium-ion battery and crash structures.

However, the Teewave AR.1 was a one-off and there are no plans to put it into production.

The T.27 electric car prototype is scheduled to be the firm's first production model.
