New Porsche Macan vs Jaguar F-Pace

A revamp for Porsche’s Macan sports SUV means it’s all set for a fresh shootout with the Jaguar F-Pace. Which is the better buy?...

New Porsche Macan vs Jaguar F-Pace

Our verdict

The F-Pace is one of the best cars Jaguar makes; it handles well at normal road speeds, sports an impressively roomy interior and comes with plenty of standard kit. However, there’s no ignoring the fact that, when viewed as a sports SUV, it isn’t quite up there with the Macan.

That’s right: five years on, the Macan, even in entry-level specification, is still the class’s most rewarding car to drive. With a sweet chassis balance and precise steering, you hardly have to make any allowances for the fact that it is a high-sided SUV. And surely that’s what all makers of sports SUVs should be striving for, right?
