New Suzuki SX4 to rival Qashqai

The all-new Suzuki SX4 is bigger than the car it replaces and is now similar in size to the Nissan Qashqai.

Rear passengers get more legroom, but the big change comes with the SX4's boot space swelling from 270 litres to an impressive 430 litres.

Buyers get the choice of a 1.6-litre petrol engine mated to a five-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox with a seven-speed manual mode or a six-speed manual-only 1.6-litre diesel.

Emissions range from 110g/km for the 1.6-litre diesel with two-wheel drive, to 136g/km for the petrol with four-wheel drive and the CVT automatic gearbox.

The new model gets sharper lines, improved aerodynamics, integrated roof rails, LED daytime running lights, chrome touches and the option of a double-sliding glass panoramic roof.

Prices are expected to start from around 13,000. The new Suzuki SX4 will go on sale this autumn.
