Peugeot's electric iOn: register now

Want to go electric with the Peugeot iOn? Then pre-register your interest ahead of its launch date in late 2010.

Based closely on the Mitsubishi iMIEV, the iOn will share its sister car's lithium ion battery pack and maximum range of 80 miles.

The iOn will take six hours to fully charge the battery pack, but Peugeot is planning to offer a fast-charge system that will give 80% of battery capacity in just 30 minutes.

Aimed at business fleets
Peugeot says that most interest in the iOn is likely to come from fleet customers, especially because it will come with an innovative data link that will enable its battery level and other information to be monitored remotely.

However, the company has confirmed that it plans to allow retail customers to buy or lease the car in the UK.

Pricing details have yet to be announced, and will depend on the level of government subsidy available for the car.
