The number of rogue motorists driving without a valid licence, insurance, or MoT has fallen.
Government figures from 2006 show that:
The number of unlicensed drivers stopped fell to 0.8% from 1.6% in 2006
The number of uninsured drivers stopped fell to 1.2% from 1.9% in 2006
The number of vehicles stopped which didn't have a current MoT dropped to 1.5% from 4.2% in 2006
The number of drivers stopped without valid VED road tax fell to 1% from 2% in 2006
The number of drivers committing a serious offence, such as driving without insurance, or driving while disqualified, fell to 3.4% from 7.5% in 2006
The number of motorists committing any of the offences checked for - including failing to notify a change of vehicle ownership and illegal vehicle numberplates - fell to 11.1% from 21% in 2006.
