Volvo's engine stop-start technology is now available on all automatic versions of the 2.0-litre diesel engine in its large car line-up.
All D3 autos in the S60, V60, V70 and S80 ranges will now benefit from lower CO2 emissions and better mpg. Compared with non-stop-start autos, all four cars' emissions are cut by 10g/km, while fuel consumption improves by at least an extra 2.5mpg.
Whereas manual stop-start systems stop and start when the clutch pedal is used, Volvo's auto stop-start works with the brake pedal. The technology starts to work once the car comes to a standstill, and restarts the engine once the driver moves their foot from the brake to the accelerator pedal.
All S60, V60, V70 and S80 D3 automatic stop-start models are available now, with no extra cost over the non-stop-start versions.
