The best large SUV deals
If you're in the market for a new car, then naturally you want the best price possible. And the good news is that by buying through What Car?, you're guaranteed to get a great deal without having to go through the hassle of haggling.
Today we've gathered the best deals on large SUVs – which we define as being anything longer than 4.5 metres. These cars aren’t usually particularly cheap to buy or lease, so in return we expect a roomy interior, a lengthy list of standard equipment and excellent cruising refinement. A few models in this class are two-wheel drive, but the vast majority have four-wheel drive for at least a modicum of off-road ability.

Citroën C5 Aircross
Citroën's largest SUV model offers a smooth ride and is quiet at motorway speeds, plus its engines are fairly frugal. It's not quite big enough inside to match the best in this class, though, and nor does it come with the option of seven seats.
What Car? deal: Save £1341 on a 1.6 PureTech 180 Flair Plus EAT8 auto – Target Price £29,424
Available with a choice of 2.0-litre diesel engines, the Edge is a solid entry into the booming SUV market. It may not feel as classy as rivals such as the Audi Q5 and BMW, but it's spacious, well equipped and smooth to drive.
What Car? deal: Save £2084 on a 2.0 EcoBlue 238 ST-Line auto – Target Price £40,911
The Kuga offers a reasonable amount of space inside and has a strong record for reliability. Ford regularly offers sizeable discounts, too, so prices are kept competitive. The interior looks a bit cheap, though.
What Car? deal: Save £3628 on a 2.0 TDCi ST-Line Edition 2WD – Target Price £23,387
The F-Pace was Jaguar's first SUV model, and competes with everything from the Audi Q5 through to the Porsche Macan. It offers excellent handling and plenty of space inside, and most models come with plenty of standard equipment.
What Car? deal: Save £2450 on a 2.0d Prestige auto – Target Price £36,645
The GLC is one of the best cars Mercedes has launched in years. It’s good to drive, smart inside and lavishly equipped. It even stacks up well financially for private buyers and company car drivers, which is something we’re not used to saying about many modern Mercedes models.
What Car? deal: Save £3912 on a GLC 250d 4Matic Sport Premium auto – Target Price £41,103
Think of the X-Trail as a bigger version of the Qashqai with two extra seats on board. Those seats may only be suitable for short journeys, but they make the X-Trail more versatile than the five-seat rivals it’s priced to compete with.
What Car? deal: Save £3355 on a 1.6 DiG-T Tekna – Target Price £28,000
The Koleos is a stylish and well-equipped choice in the large SUV market, and it comes with lots of safety kit as standard. It's not as practical as some rivals, mind.
What Car? deal: Save £1468 on a 2.0 dCi GT Line 2WD X-Tronic auto – Target Price £28,027
The Tarraco is Seat's largest SUV, and builds on the success of the Arona and Ateca by being good to drive, well equipped and having composed handling. It isn't the most practical choice in this market, though.
What Car? deal: Save £1121 on a 1.5 TSI EVO SE First Edition – Target Price £29,354
The Kodiaq is proof that getting a large SUV with space for up to seven people need not cost the Earth. This is Skoda's largest SUV, and it's supremely practical inside while also offering excellent value for money.
What Car? deal: Save £1721 on a 1.5 TSI SE L [7 Seat] – Target Price £27,829
Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace
Take the regular Volkswagen Tiguan, add some more space and two extra seats, and hey presto, you've made the Tiguan Allspace. Its high-quality interior and flexible seating are impressive, and it remains good to drive.
What Car? deal: Save £3386 on a 2.0 TDI 190 4Motion R Line Tech DSG auto – Target Price £37,654
