Was I right to walk away from deal?

Q) Was I right to walk away from this deal?
My local Mercedes-Benz dealer matched the What Car? Target Price on a new C-Class C350 Coup. However, my part-exchange was under-valued by more than 3000. It appears the part-ex value has subsidised the discount.Ive walked away from the offer. Was this the right thing to do?

A) Yes. The best way to deal with this issue is to do your haggling on a new car without even mentioning the possibility of a part-exchange. The dealer will then be forced to reveal the best discounted price he is prepared to offer for your business. Once you have this figure, you can then bring a part-exchange into the equation and haggle, or walk away.
