Just plug it into a standard, domestic UK wall socket. To recharge a completely flat battery takes seven to eight hours, but a fast-charge system will allow owners to top up the batteries to 80% of capacity in 25 minutes.

Nissan expects supermarkets, shopping centres and workplaces to install charging bays, so that owners can top up their car's batteries while they shop, work or take a coffee break.
