Richard has some tough criteria to fill, especially in terms of getting everyone and everything he needs into a car not much larger than his Golf Estate. And while both the Skoda Superb Estate and Peugeot 5008 would fit the bill, we have to award the win this time to the excellent large SUV.
The 5008 is a car that slots into a busy life so easily, because it's spacious, it's comfortable and it has a high-tech interior that's brimming with equipment. Plus, its turbocharged 1.2-litre petrol engine is plenty powerful enough to haul driver and family around.
Our recommendation this time, then, is to buy used.
