Vauxhall has launched a new ES Tech version of its Astra small family car.

The new trim is available with the 138bhp 1.4-litre petrol for 18,110 and the 123bhp 1.7 CDTi for 19,530.

That makes the new trim 115 more expensive than the cheapest Exclusive version with the diesel, but 40 cheaper with the petrol.

Despite being close on price, ES Tech beats Exclusiv specification with the addition of extras including sat-nav and Bluetooth, options that would otherwise add 1050 to the price of the car.

Other features include a digital radio, 17-inch alloy wheels, air-conditioning, curtain airbags, stability control, cruise control and steering-wheel-mounted stereo controls.
