The Cupra Born borrows all the good bits from the VW ID 3 and adds a slightly more polished interior and sharper handling. The entry-level 58kWh V1 version makes the most sense, and while it’s much more expensive than an equivalent MG4 EV, it’s better to drive, more refined and much more appealing inside.
The trim
Those who want toasty buns will need a V2 for its heated front seats. It also gets you bigger 19in wheels, privacy glass and a head-up display to project your speed on to the windscreen.
The engine
The fastest Born has 228bhp available, trimming the 0-62mph time down to 6.6sec (or 7.0sec) depending on which battery size you choose. In the real world, though, it’s hard to detect a difference in pace between the e-Boost and the regular car.
