The Ford Ecosport is a compact SUV, based on the Fiesta’s platform. It’s priced similarly to the Renault Captur and Kia Soul, and undercuts rivals such as the Nissan Juke and Skoda Yeti.
The 1.5-litre diesel engine will be the most popular choice in the Ecosport, but there are 1.0 or 1.5-litre petrol engines on offer, too. It’s front-wheel drive only, so don’t expect the Ford to be any more capable off-road than a standard hatchback, other than it having the benefit of better ground clearance.
Space and practicality are also limited in the Ecosport. You’ll be able to seat four adults in relative comfort, but there’s none of the functional cabin versatility offered by rivals like the Renault Captur, and the Ford’s side-hinged boot is hugely impractical.
