Deal of the Day: Lease a Citroën C5 Aircross from £237 per month

The Citroën C5 Aircross is a comfortable family SUV that offers great value for money – especially when you factor in our leasing deals...

Citroen C5 Aircross front driving

If you’re in the market for a new car that can transport your whole family in comfort, then you’re looking in the right place. Over the years, Citroën has gained a reputation for its comfy, supple-riding cars that are also reasonably priced – and the Citroën C5 Aircross is no exception.

Indeed, this family SUV is pleasant to ride in, hushed at speed and offers great value when you opt for its efficient hybrid engine. So, if that all sounds good to you, you might be pleased to know that you could put a new C5 Aircross on your driveway for as little as £237 per month.

To do that, you’ll need to opt for a 24-month contract with an annual mileage limit of 5000 miles, and an initial payment of £2833.87. The annual 5000 mile restriction isn’t a huge allowance, so you’ll have to be careful to avoid excess mileage charges.

If you regularly cover more miles, you could opt for a more common 36-month, 10,000-mile agreement with six months initial rental (£1958.99), which will cost £326.50 per month.

There are two engine options available in the C5 Aircross: a full hybrid and a plug-in hybrid. Our Deal of the Day comes with the former, combining a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine with an electric motor, offering 143bhp. While we haven’t tested the hybrid variant yet, its 11.2sec 0-62mph time should be enough pace to keep up with traffic.

The previous-generation C5 Aircross was one of the most pillowy family SUVs on the market, so we expect nothing less of this variant. It should, at least, be more comfortable than its PHEV sibling, which requires a firmer setup.

That being said, soft suspension means that the C5 Aircross suffers from body lean in corners. Its steering is also quite light, which is good for driving around town, but it doesn’t inspire much confidence on winding roads.

You get a near-perfect driving position in pretty much every version of the C5 Aircross, with pedals, steering wheel and seat all lining up nicely. There’s plenty of steering wheel and seat adjustment, including adjustable lumbar support on higher trims.

Elsewhere inside, there’s a 10in digital instrument panel alongside a 13in infotainment touchscreen, which has large icons that are easy to tap on the move. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and a built-in sat-nav come as standard. The surfaces you touch most inside are furnished in soft plastics and sofa-like materials, though there are some scratchy plastics lower down. Rivals like the Peugeot 5008 and Mazda CX-5 are more plush.

There’s plenty of interior space inside the C5 Aircross for passengers of all shapes and sizes, and there’s loads of flexibility when it comes to storage. There’s 565 litres of boot space to play with – bigger than pretty much every rival – and the rear seats fold in a very handy 40/20/40 split, allowing you to prioritise either boot space or rear passenger space easily.

Our Deal of the Day comes in our favourite Plus trim, which includes 19in alloy wheels, adjustable lumbar support and extra parking aids, on top of the standard wireless phone charging, adaptive cruise control, automatic dual-zone air conditioning and keyless start.
