Deal of the Day: Lease a Ford Explorer from £273 per month
The Ford Explorer has a decent electric range and plenty of standard kit, and you could lease one for a keen price with our deals...

Before 2024, the Ford Explorer was powered by traditional combustion engines – and it was only briefly on sale in the UK at the turn of the millennium. However, the popularity of the Explorer stateside became impossible to ignore, and Ford adapted its much-loved SUV for the European market by making it fully electric.
In fact, the Explorer EV is closer in relation to the Volkswagen ID 4 than the Explorer ‘truck’ sold in the US, thanks to a partnership between the two firms agreed a few years ago. But that’s no bad thing – the Explorer EV is good to drive, comes well-equipped and has decent range. So, if that all sounds good to you, then you might be pleased to know that you could put a new one on your driveway for as little as £273 per month.
To do that, you’ll need to opt for a 36-month contract with an annual mileage limit of 5000 miles, and an initial payment of £3273.19. The annual 5000 mile restriction isn’t a huge allowance, so you’ll have to be careful to avoid excess mileage charges.
If you regularly cover more miles, you could opt for a more common 36-month, 10,000-mile agreement with six months initial rental (£2046.67), which will cost £341.11 per month.

There are two battery options available with the Explorer: a relatively small 52kWh unit, or a larger 77kWh unit. Our Deal of the Day comes with the former, which is paired with a 168bhp electric motor and can sprint from 0-62mph in 8.7sec. From that battery, it can officially travel for 233 miles on a single charge – not quite as far as the entry-level Kia EV6 or equivalent ID 4.
Like other electric cars, the Explorer has regenerative braking, which puts energy back into the battery as it decelerates. It’s less intrusive than the system in its Ford stablemate, the Mustang Mach-E, and it helps you slow the car down easily. You can even get close to one-pedal driving when you select the maximum regen mode.

The Explorer is mostly good to drive, soaking up potholes and bumps in the road more smoothly than the Mustang Mach-E. It can become a little unsettled at higher speeds, but its handling is composed enough to inspire confidence.
Inside, the dashboard is dominated by a large 14.6in portrait-oriented infotainment touchscreen, which you can adjust within a 30-degree arc to choose the angle that works best for you. Pretty much all the controls are operated through the touchscreen rather than through any physical buttons, which can be slightly distracting. Fortunately, it also comes equipped with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as standard.
While it’s not the most spacious electric SUV out there, you shouldn’t feel cramped in the Explorer even if you’re tall and broad. Tall passengers will also be comfortable in the back, though there’s slightly more room to stretch out in the rival Kia EV6 or Renault Scenic. You get 470 litres of boot space, which makes the Explorer less practical than rivals, but the abundance of interior storage makes up for it. There’s a 17-litre cubby in between the front seats, plus a compartment below the infotainment touchscreen.
Our Deal of the Day comes in our entry-level Style trim, which comes equipped with 19in alloy wheels, keyless entry, LED headlights with auto high beam, adaptive cruise control and 17in alloy wheels.
