Deal of the Day: Lease a Jaecoo 7 from £265 per month

The Jaecoo 7 is one of the UK’s most popular cars, and you could lease one for a keen price with our deals...

If you’ve never heard of the Jaecoo 7, chances are you’ve definitely seen one or two on the road in recent months. Despite only launching in the UK last year, Jaecoo has already made a huge splash in the automotive market, and this petrol-powered family SUV is its biggest seller.

Indeed, the Jaecoo 7 is popular for its rugged looks, smart interior and keen pricing – which gets even keener when you consider you could put a new one on your driveway for as little as £265 per month.

To do that, you’ll need to opt for a 36-month contract with an annual mileage limit of 5000 miles, and an initial payment of £3174.91. The annual 5000 mile restriction isn’t a huge allowance, so you’ll have to be careful to avoid excess mileage charges.

If you regularly cover more miles, you could opt for a more common 36-month, 10,000-mile agreement with six months initial rental (£1970.19), which will cost £328.36 per month.

You can have your Jaecoo 7 with either pure petrol or plug-in hybrid power. Our Deal of the Day comes with the former, featuring a 1.6-litre engine that pumps out 145bhp. Matched to a seven-speed automatic gearbox, it’s smooth with gear changes at higher speeds, though we wish there was a bit more oomph from the engine.

The Jaecoo 7 isn’t really a car for keen drivers, with its fidgety ride, light steering and jerky acceleration. Rivals like the Kia Sportage and MG HS are better to drive. That being said, the J7 is pleasantly hushed on motorways thanks to its double-glazed windows.

Things get a lot better inside the Jaecoo 7, though, where it’s really easy to get comfortable. As standard, the driver’s seat comes with six-way electric adjustability and lumbar support, plus there’s plenty of steering wheel adjustment. SUV fans will appreciate the J7’s lofty driving position, which gives you a great view of the road ahead.

The view out the back of the car is slightly limited due to the small window and wide rear pillars, but this is offset by the 540-degree parking camera that comes as standard, which displays a view around the car on the infotainment touchscreen to make manoeuvring easier.

Our Deal of the Day comes with a 13.2in touchscreen which has sharp graphics and a simple layout. It’s slightly annoying that everything is controlled via the screen instead of having physical controls, including climate and volume settings. However, the J7 scores points for interior quality, with soft-touch plastics and faux-leather materials across the areas you touch the most.

No matter where you’re sitting in the Jaecoo 7, there’s no shortage of space. Even six-footers shouldn’t have any issues getting comfortable in the front or rear. However, its 412-litre boot space is quite small by class standards. For reference, the Sportage offers 562 litres.

Our Deal of the Day comes in entry-level Deluxe trim, which comes generously equipped with full LED headlights, faux-leather upholstery, heated and electrically adjustable front seats, a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone-charging, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, adaptive cruise control and a powered tailgate.
