An electric version of the new Kia Soul is to go on sale in the UK in late 2015.
Kia Motors UK commercial director Yaser Shabsogh confirmed that 'an electric Soul will go on sale, probably around November next year'.
He also confirmed the Soul EV's prospective price, saying: 'While we are not 100% on all this – there are still details to sort out – it should cost around £25,000.'
Shabsogh also confirmed that the price would include the 27kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which will give the car a range of around 125 miles. There will be no battery-leasing option, as pioneered by Renault and Nissan, which reduces the purchase price of the car but incorporates a compulsory monthly fee for the battery.
Kia intends to offer its seven-year warranty and competitive finance deals to make the electric Soul more tempting, although sales are still expected to be low, at around 200 examples.
