Pod Point launches EV charging subscription service as part of rebrand

New £40 per month EV charging subscription aims to cut costs for UK electric car owners...

Pod Drive charging subscription service

EV charging company Pod Point has rebranded to Pod, and in turn has launched a new home charging subscription service for UK electric car drivers.

The offer, dubbed Pod Drive, includes installation of a home charger at a lower cost, as well as a lifetime warranty and cashback on up to 7500 miles charged per year when you subscribe for £40 per month. It's being billed as the first subscription service of its kind in the UK.

You might be familiar with Pod Point public chargers around the country – those will still be available under the same branding, but will sit alongside the new Pod Drive subscription service.

The new offer includes installation of a 7kW Solo 3S charger at your home for an upfront cost of £99, instead of the usual price of £1249. It also comes with a lifetime warranty, a 48-hour service level agreement – which promises, should you have an issue, that an engineer will visit within two days of assessment by the Pod team – and cashback on up to 7500 miles driven per year when you’ve charged up at home.

According to Pod, customers will be able to plug in normally at home and ‘smart charge’ their electric car to meet a specified charge level by a certain time. This system will work with any energy provider, so customers will pay their usual tariff within their energy bill alongside their Pod Drive subscription fee.

Pod then provides cashback at a rate of 2.3p per mile for up to 7500 miles per year – which equates to £172.50 annually. Each subscription is subject to a minimum three-year term, so the minimum cost for a Pod Drive customer over that period (with cashback taken into account) will be £1021.50.

Pod also has plans to partner with car brands, among which is Mazda, which is set to offer Pod Drive to drivers of the Mazda 6e, which will go on sale early in 2026.
