Used car sales on the rise

Used car sales have been at their highest since 2009, according to the latest sales reports.
Figures released by Experian and the DVLA show 1,741,860 used cars were sold in the first quarter of 2012, the largest amount since the same period in 2009, when 1,813,588 were sold.
Sales are up 14.7% on the final quarter, and up 0.2% on the same quarter last year.
All car categories saw a rise in sales, except the 4x4s, which suffered a 1.3% drop. The MPV segment was the biggest riser, with its 103,415 sales a 26.7% increase compared to the previous quarter.
With 78,812 cars sold, the Ford Focus was the biggest selling used car of the first quarter.
