The Nissan Leaf is a competitively priced small electric SUV and offers impressive distances between charges, helping it stand out against lots of other small electric SUV rivals. Just bear in mind that the driving experience is only so-so, and rear-seat space isn’t amazing.
The trim
It's worth considering an upgrade to N-Connecta trim, which adds 17in alloy wheels, part-faux leather, heated front and rear seats, a heated steering wheel, privacy glass, electrically folding door mirrors, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror.
The engine
The 39kWh battery version has a perfectly respectable 0-62mph time of around eight seconds. Officially the range is 168 miles on a full charge, but in our Real Range testing we managed just 128 miles.
