Costs & verdict

Everyday costs, plus how reliable and safe it is

Renault has developed the Kangoo over the years and it now comes with all the expected safety equipment required of a modern van. Useful systems like Hill Start Assist and Grip Xtend feature alongside electronic stability control and ABS.

A novel feature available on the Kangoo is the rear roof flap that allows even longer items to be carried. It’s a feature that was previously used on the Renault 4 van and means that poles or other long items can be safely transported without the need to open the rear doors.

Business+ trim level definitely offers the best value for money, but it is always worth seeking out the various special edition models that are available as these Kangoos can be exceptionally well specced compared to sector rivals.

Running costs are also competitive, with the most efficient model claiming a 65.7mpg fuel economy. This figure is one of the highest in its class.
