Hybrid

Hybrid cars are precisely that - where power comes from a combination of combustion engine and a pairing of batteries and a motor. There are many different forms of hybrid cars, each bringing their own benefits.

Traditional hybrids – sometimes called full hybrids, or rather erroneously, self-charging hybrids – use a small battery and electric motor to support the engine when driving. This saves fuel because the engine doesn't need to work as hard, and they can even run on electricity alone for short periods of time.

They’re distinct from plug-in hybrids because they don’t need to be plugged in, and the ability to cruise under zero-emissions power places them apart from mild-hybrids.
