Traditional saloon cars - models with a distinct boot - aren’t as common as they once were, and with a handful of exceptions are more luxurious in nature: think BMW 3 Series or Mercedes E-Class.

These models generally prioritise style and comfort over outright practicality, but are generally at their absolute best on a hushed motorway cruise or on a winding road.
