Passenger & boot space

How it copes with people and clutter

Up front, you'll find a sizeable storage area under the front armrest, big door pockets and a tray for odds and ends in front of the gearlever. Head and leg room are plentiful and the interior is really broad, so you won’t be clashing elbows with your passenger.

The Musso’s rear seats are also pretty roomy. Head room is good for all three passengers, while there’s a nice flat floor for the middle occupant's feet, and decent foot room for the other two. That said, tall adults in the outer seats might find their knees brushing the front seatbacks, and the middle passenger has a slightly protruding backrest to contend with.

But the real appeal of a pickup over a family SUV is, of course, the cavernous load bay out back. Like all of its rivals, the Musso will take a standard European cargo pallet between its wheel arch intrusions, with a maximum cargo capacity of 1011 litres and a payload of 1050kg, although that's less than the Ford Ranger can manage.

Other practical touches include a 12V/120W socket in the load bay for use with power tools and the like. There's a selection of hooks in the back to help strap down items, too, and numerous other cargo accessories on the options list.
