Has an excellent safety rating and is decent to drive, but it's very expensive considering how poor the interior is and that an identical Ford Tourneo Connect is thousands less and better equipped. Performance and refinement are worse than the similarly priced VW Touran too.

Life adds tasteful 16in alloys, LED rear tail lights, some extra storage drawers under the front seats, an 8in infotainment system, plus handy front and rear parking sensors.

The 120bhp 2.0-litre diesel is a little grumbly but has lots of low-down shove that makes accelerating up to the speed limit easy. It won’t be a ball of fire though, with a 0-62mph time of 11.8sec.
