This is the first official look at the new Range Rover Evoque, that was unveiled today by Victoria Beckham.
On sale in about a year’s time, the new car will be the cheapest model in the range – and the smallest, lightest and greenest Range Rover ever.
Expected to cost from about £35,000, the 'compact' Range Rover will be at least £10,000 less than the cheapest Range Rover Sport – and about the same as a Land Rover Discovery.
It's classed as a coupe by the company and will be built at the company's Halewood factory in Liverpool.
True to LRX concept car
The Evoque stays true to the LRX concept car that was first shown two years ago. According to Land Rover design director Gerry McGovern, it is 'a modern and relevant execution of the familiar Range Rover design'.
The company’s managing director, Phil Popham, said, ‘Customers can be confident that the new car will be premium, luxurious and just as special as the other Range Rover models. Its sporting looks and unique qualities will open the brand to a new group of customers who might not have considered a Range Rover before.’
