Great car but then again I have always been a fan of M3s and had an e46 M3 Coupe before. What really does it for me is how performance is mated to ample amount of space in this performance saloon. It suits a family of 4 perfectly and I can comfortably chuck surfboard and various other bits and bobs in it and drive down to the south coast at the weekend. My only gripe is that BMW never really manage to give the interior the same class and feel in this price segment compared to for example Mercedes and Audi. Once you are sat in it it's just like a normal 3 series bar a few logos here and there. Switch on the engine though you are rewarded with that fantastic 4 litre V8. It sounds brilliant and can be surprisingly economical as long as you watch it (and I mean closely). I did a trip to Holland and put the car into cruise control at 70 mph and it was giving me 27 mpg which I found astonishing. If you put your foot down you will be amazed by how freely that enginge revs all the way to the redline at just under 9000 and how quickly you can reach speeds that can easily earn you some time 'inside'. All in all car is a great for a family man or woman who every so often likes 'having a go' and feels that he or she does not belong to the diesel estate driving fraternity just yet.
I have owned this car for 3 months and 3000 miles…
I have owned Porsches for 25 years now. I've had…
