For The Isuzu Rodeo has a big loadbay and generous equipment, while its diesel engine is comparatively smooth.
Against The bouncy ride and plasticky interior are disappointing, and the Rodeo comes with the bare minimum of safety kit.
As with most pick-ups, the main benefits are in tax. The Isuzu Rodeo is neither as good to drive nor as refined as a conventional 4x4.
With the Isuzu Rodeo, you have as much choice of engine as you do body style: two of each. Engine-wise, you can pick between 2.5- and 3.0-litre turbodiesels, while there are also Single and Double Cab bodies. However, if you want the Single Cab, you're confined to one, basic but cheap model that's best described as a workhorse. The range of Double Cabs is wider, and much more car-like in the equipment it offers - but much more expensive, too.
Even the most basic models are pretty well equipped, but as you go up the model range, you get more and more body kit, as well as luxury features, such as leather upholstery, sat-nav and CD-multichangers. Plus, for those who want to individualise their Rodeo, there's also a huge range of accessories available, including everything from styling items to more practical accessories.
