Buick Verano

Will you ever be able to buy this car? If you live in Europe, then not in this form. However, it does sit on a modified version of the Chevrolet Cruze platform.

advertisment

We're featuring it because it wouldnt be a Detroit motor show report without mentioning this most classic of hometown brands.

This will be the entry-level model in the Buick line-up, and its powered by a slightly un-American four-cylinder engine, albeit a 2.4-litre one with 177bhp and 170lb ft of torque.

Anyone embarrassed by the shortage of cylinders has their blushes spared by the vents on the bonnet, though. The six holes are supposed to fool people into thinking there are six cylinders working away there.
