My boyfriend wants to buy me a car, and I've seen the one I'd like but I dont know what it is! It's a convertible. The one I saw was pale green. It is really vintage looking, has round lights, mirrors out on sticks and two doors. I saw loads of them around in about 1999, and they have a badge that looks like a shield with a line through it at the bottom. Do you know what I've seen?
Lola Skuse
It sounds to us like youre pining after a Nissan Figaro. Its a small convertible based on Nissan's supermini, the Micra.
Only 20,000 were ever built, and all were manufactured in 1991. So, unfortunately, you won't be able to get hold of a new one today.
It was made in Japan and never officially sold in the UK, so the ones youve seen will be imports.
Don't let that put you off, though. A quick search of the classifieds revealed plenty for sale around the country, ranging from 3000-10,000 (depending on mileage and condition).
Retro-styling and limited production numbers have kept used values high, so that means the Figaro isn't great value for money.
You could also think about a Daihatsu Copen. It looks similar to the Figaro, but is better value for money and you can still buy a new one today.
