Estate cars are often the first to come to mind when you think of practicality, but there are actually plenty of non-estate models that offer just as much space. One of those is the Skoda Superb hatchback – and while it’s a smaller alternative to its estate equivalent, it doesn’t skimp on space.

So, if that all sounds good to you, you might be pleased to know that you could save a packet on a new Superb hatchback with our free online New Car Deals service.

- Save £5595 on a new Skoda Superb 2.0 TSI SE L

- Save £6100 on a new Skoda Superb 2.0 TDI SportLine

- Save £7467 on a new Skoda Superb 1.5 TSI e-TEC SportLine

- Save £7795 on a new Skoda Superb 1.5 TSI e-TEC SE Technology

The Superb hatchback comes with a choice of four engines, which means you shouldn’t have any issues finding one that works for you. Our favourite is the entry-level 148bhp 1.5 TSI e-Tec petrol, which is bolstered by mild hybrid tech for better performance and lower fuel bills.

For the biggest saving of £7795, you can opt for that engine with entry-level SE Technology trim, which comes well-equipped with keyless start, heated and massaging front seats, wireless phone charging and adaptive cruise control.

Or, for a larger saving of up to £7467, you can step up to SportLine trim, which adds larger 19in wheels, a three-spoke sports steering wheel, sports suspension and sports seats.

If you want a bit more oomph, you could opt for the larger 2.0 TSI petrol, which offers 201bhp. And, when you opt for SE L trim, not only do you get ventilation and 14-way electric adjustment for the front seats, ambient lighting and bigger, 18in wheels, but you can also save up to £5595.

If petrol power isn’t for you, there’s also a 2.0 TDI diesel option, producing 148bhp. It’s a great choice if you’re planning on towing a caravan, thanks to its muscular power that makes it well-suited to long motorway journeys. When you specify SportLine trim, you could save up to £6100.

Inside, every version of the Superb hatchback gets a 13in infotainment touchscreen, with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and a ChatGPT-assisted voice control system. It also benefits from physical buttons and dials for climate controls and the heated seats – though they do feel a little cheap.

You’ll struggle to find an executive car that offers more space than the Superb hatchback. Even spending more money on a BMW 5 Series or Mercedes E-Class won’t buy you more passenger space. With 645 litres of boot space, it outclasses rivals by a huge margin, including the bigger and pricier Audi A6.
