How to get a free 500 car service

Car owners could win the price of their next service or repair, up to a maximum of 500, by filling in the Motor Codes survey.

The survey provides valuable customer feedback on the quality of service motorists get from garages that have signed up to the voluntary Motor Code standards.

The results are used to give garages advice on how they can improve the service they offer if it's not up to standard and, ultimately, can result in garages being thrown off the scheme if negative feedback isn't addressed.

As an incentive for drivers to take part, one motorist a month will have their service or repair work paid for by the organisation.

The Motor Codes on service and repair was created by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders in response to wide-ranging criticism of standards in the industry.

It is designed to give motorists access to reputable garages and provides conciliation and binding arbitration services in the event of disputes. So far, more than 6200 garages have signed up to the scheme and can be found through the Motor Codes website.

There is also a free advice line, which motorists can call for advice on 0800 692 0825.
