Nissan Leaf

With the order books for the Nissan Leaf now open, Nissan is using the Paris motor show as another opportunity to show off the all-electric hatchback.

It will do up to 100 miles on a single charge and reach a top speed of 90mph. A full recharge takes around eight hours a typical overnight period but you'll be able to restore 80% of charge in 30 minutes with a high-voltage quick-charge cable.

The car has already generated considerable interest around the world, with more than 25,000 customers already putting down deposits in the US and Japan. Around 10,000 Leafs will be built each year at Nissans Sunderland factory. The high demand means they might be in restricted supply to start with, but Nissan plans to ramp up production to half a million cars annually by 2015.

The Nissan Leaf will cost 23,990 when it goes on sale in February.

Anything else?
The new Juke crossover vehicle is at the show, too.

This supermini that thinks its a SUV and a sport coupe has taken over 22,500 pre-orders, and could well upset the likes of Mini.

It was originally designed in the UK, and while the front is partly inspired by a rally car, the cabin incorporates elements of motorcycle design.

Theres also the updated X-Trail 4x4 on show, with its refreshed front grille, rear light clusters and larger wheels. Critics of the cars interior have also been listened to, with the use of higher-quality materials, and a refreshed look.

Updates to the engines and gearbox and have also improved the SUVs fuel economy and lowered its CO2 emissions.
