Parents break law to save on insurance

Parents are breaking the law in order to save money on their children's car insurance.
Research from Co-operative Insurance found that 41% of parents deliberately lie when filling out insurance policy applications, claiming that they are the owners and main driver of a car, rather than their children.
While this practice, known as fronting, could lead to big savings on insurance premiums, insurers have warned of the consequences of doing so.
'The view that car insurance fronting is harmless and does not hurt anyone could not be further from the truth,' said Co-op Insurance's Tim Franklin.
'Parents who believe they are helping their children to save money by fronting are not only risking prosecution, but harming their chances of obtaining insurance in the future.'
