Peugeot announces first models eligible for government Electric Car Grant
Three Peugeot models will officially benefit from the £1500 government EV grant...

Peugeot has announced that its Peugeot e-208, e-2008 and e-Rifter models are officially eligible for the level two government Electric Car Grant of £1500.
This follows the announcement of the first ever models to be eligible for the EV grant, which includes cars from Citroën, Nissan, Renault and Vauxhall.
Thanks to the £1500 discount, the Peugeot e-208 will now cost from £28,650, while the e-2008 and e-Rifter MPV are priced from £33,900 and £30,850 respectively.
Ahead of further government confirmations, Peugeot has also introduced savings of £1500 on its e-408, e-308, e-308 SW and e-Traveller models.
In the case of the e-408, that brings its entry-level list price below the Government threshold of £37,000, which means that model, alongside the e-308 and e-308 SW, may later qualify for the ECG.
The Electric Car Grant was announced by the Government earlier this year, applying discounts of either £3750 or £1500 to sales of new electric cars. The move is intended to incentivise UK drivers to go fully electric with their next purchase in order to reach targets set out in the ZEV mandate.
Eligibility depends on the price of the model – it must be below £37,000 – and how much CO2 is released during its production.
As of yet, no models have been confirmed to qualify for the full grant of £3750. However, Nissan anticipates that its upcoming Leaf model, which is produced here in the UK, will be eligible for the full amount.
