Text driver expects jail sentence
* Convicted of death by dangerous driving * Killed cyclist while texting * Jail sentence likely...
A driver who killed a cyclist while she was sending a text on her mobile phone has been convicted of causing death by dangerous driving.
Kiera Coultas has been told to expect a custodial sentence after being found guilty of killing 19-year-old cyclist Jordan Wickington in Southampton in February last year.
The cyclist had skipped a red light at a junction in Southampton and was hit at 45mph by Coultas. Phone records had shown she sent her ex-husband a text shortly before calling 999 to report the accident.
The 25-year-old hotel manager won't be sentenced until later this month but Judge Jeremy Burford QC said a custodial sentence was likely.
