VW tight-lipped over hot Polo R
* VW to enter WRC with Polo R * No word on road-going Polo R * Rally car has 300bhp 1.6-litre petrol engine...
Volkswagen is keeping tight-lipped over whether it will build a production version of its VW Polo R World Rally Championship (WRC) car.
VW revealed last week that it will compete in the WRC from 2013 with a Polo R that's powered by a 1.6 TFSI petrol engine with nearly 300bhp.
Test versions of the four-wheel-drive rally car will run later this year, ahead of entry to the WRC in 2013 But VW won't say if a road-going version will be made, but it isn't ruling it out, either.
'There has been huge speculation since the car was launched last week, but nothing has been confirmed,' said a VW spokesman.
Current WRC leader Citroen enters its DS3 in the championship. We've driven the fastest road-going version the DS3 Racing.
