Used Vauxhall Astra 2022-present reliability review
The Vauxhall Astra is a comfortable, practical and good value used car. It's not the best all-rounder, though.
What should I look for in a used Vauxhall Astra?
When viewing a used car, always follow our used car buying checklist.
There isn't anything specific to the Astra to look out for yet, other than the usual places, such as the bodywork, alloy wheels and interior. It's always good to check these areas for damage. As with any used car, be sure to check the service history.

Is a used Vauxhall Astra reliable?
Based on our car brand data, we have mixed feelings about the reliability of the Vauxhall Astra.
This year, 2025/26, it finished in eighth place out of 30 cars in the family car class in our What Car? Reliability Survey with a score of 91.3%.
The older 2015-2022 version of the Astra also appeared in our survey, and it finished fifth out of 25 cars in the family car class with an overall score of 96.8%, a considerable improvement on its rather poor scores in the past.
Vauxhall did well in our most recent What Car? Reliability Survey, coming fifth out of 30 manufacturers. That still left it trailing Honda and Toyota, but further up the list than other rival brands, including Peugeot, Seat, Skoda, and Volkswagen.
The Astra – like all Vauxhall models – comes with a three-year, 60,000-mile warranty. That's in keeping with cover from most other manufacturers, but can’t beat Hyundai's five-year offering, Kia's seven-year cover or Toyota’s 10-year warranty (conditional on you having the car serviced regularly by a Toyota dealer).
