Mazda CX-5 unveiled
The CX-5 is the first production model to showcase Mazda’s new ‘Kodo’ design theme. As expected, it’s almost unchanged from the Minagi concept car that made its debut at the Geneva motor show in March this year.
It is also the first model to be built using Mazda’s ‘Skyactiv’ technology, which is designed to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions through a combination of lightweight construction and a range of all-new petrol and diesel engines.
Initially, the CX-5 will be available with 2.0-litre petrol or 2.0-litre diesel engines. Mazda is aiming for CO2 emissions of less than 120g/km for the diesel model.
Mazda says the CX-5 will go on sale in spring 2012. Prices haven’t been confirmed, but we’d expect them to start at around £21,000.
Updated Mazda 3 at Frankfurt motor show
Mazda will also unveil an updated 3 hatchback at the Frankfurt motor show. The 3 will have a range of subtle cosmetic tweaks and updated engines with lower CO2 emissions.
