I've had this car since Nov 2010 and I've now done over 5k miles. It is superb in every way. Originally I test drove and then (after much petrol v diesel debating) ordered the 2.0 TDI Sport. However, Audi screwed up my order so badly that I cancelled it and bought the TFSI from stock. The diesel is an excellent car, but boy am I glad that I've got the petrol! The 6-speaker sound system is almost wasted on this car, as most of the time I just switch it off and listen to the engine purr and growl. The 211bhp engine is truly exceptional in its mix of power, efficiency and green credentials (which helps with road tax, even if you don't care about the planet). I've averaging about 37mpg, driving it using the acceleration liberally but not going crazy on motorways (i.e. cruising around 75mph) - which for this kind of car is remarkable.
Two tips for would-be buyers: (1) the incredible TFSI engine is just a little too powerful for front-wheel drive (the ESP kicks in a fair bit under hard acceleration, especially if the road is at all damp) so I'd go for the Quattro version (though this is only available with an auto gearbox); (2) Whatcar? is 100% right about the S-line suspension - far too bumpy, go for the Sport and just add whatever extras you want (e.g. the LED lights) to bring it up to S-line spec.
What can I say about this car that hasn't already been said? It looks fantastic, the cabin quality is exceptional, it's surprisingly practical for a coupe (I fit a 6 foot Xmas tree in it 3 years running), and then there's the performance. It grips round corners like you wouldn't believe, and you feel that 2-litre turbocharged engine can always give you a little more - never seems to run out of power. I cannot get my head round the fact that this car is front wheel drive sometimes. It just drives so well, feels so sturdy and reassuring. The steering is a dream - light yet direct and responsive and gives you so much feedback. Fuel economy not bad (31mpg if you have a bit of fun with it) and the car is so well-balanced that if you keep on top of the tyre pressures they could last you 35000 miles like mine did. I have had so much fun in this car since owning it from new! If you are considering buying this car - do it, you will not regret it. It really is a superb little car - the best I have ever owned and the one that all future cars will be compared against.
Treated myself to this wonderful car, brand new, 4 months ago and have currently covered almost 5000 miles.
This is without doubt the best car I've owned, taking the mantle from the previous favourite, a Subaru Impreza WRX SL, mostly because I can afford to run this one!
The quality is fantastic, the handling is superb, the fuel economy is amazing and the performance is more than acceptable. Done a number of long runs to Germany and back, averaging 52 mpg (best was almost 60 mpg on a 2 hr cruise at 70 mph)on what is still a new engine, whilst occasionally touching 146 mph on the autobahn. The mid range punch is more than capable with dealing with overtaking when the 'autobahn expresses' come thundering up behind you. This diesel engine more than holds it own as a performance car and the chassis, with quattro, is brilliant fun on a twisty road. Getting well over 600 miles to a tank on a cruise is icing on an already delicious cake.
Any bad points? Well, the paint seems very soft, with a few stonechips already (but the long trips havent helped) and the alloys (optional 18 inchers) kerb very easily, but that may be more to do with my inability to parallel park very well.
All in all, this car satisfies my (third or fourth) midlife crisis while making me feel like I'm not pissing away the world's oil reserves. Fantastic car that makes me smile every time I see it and every time I drive it. When you park it, you will always look back!
Fantastic car - only had the use for 6 weeks but miss it terribly.
I think everyone should get a go in an Audi TT.
Hopefully I will be trading in my XXXX Mondeo for a new white 2.0 TT Sline quattro stronic in the next few weeks - can't wait!!
I feel 16 again - thanks Audi you rock!
PS If I win the Euromillions tonight I'm getting the R8 Spyder
