Best used convertibles for less than £10,000 (and the ones to avoid)
Enjoy the Great British summer while it lasts with a great-value used convertible. We’ve picked out the 10 best for £10,000...
The Volkswagen Golf’s more stylish sister, the Eos, offers a folding hard-top roof and a classy interior all wrapped up in a sharp suit that manages to avoid the bulbousness of some of its rivals. It’s enjoyable to drive and comfortable, and it has four seats, too. It is a little less spacious than the Golf Cabriolet, and it’s also pricier to buy as it’s a little more desirable and better equipped, but if you can stretch to it, the Eos offers a great blend of practicality, style, usability and driver appeal.

A folding metal roof makes this last generation of the BMW 3 Series Convertible one of the most usable. The extra weight it adds makes the Convertible a bit more ponderous in corners than other 3 Series models, but you probably won’t notice too much as it’s still very responsive to drive. And while space is at a premium, as with all folding hard-tops, the 3 Series offers a splendid range of petrol and diesel engines, not to mention a classy interior and stylish looks.

5. BMW Z4
The BMW Z4 has been for sale for a long time now, but its popularity means it’s cheaper to buy a used example than you might think. In fact, the current generation just sneaks below our £10,000 budget, giving you a pretty little two-seat drop-top that’s fun to drive but also manages to be comfortable (as long as you avoid the harsh-riding M Sport version). You also get a smart interior that’s beautifully styled and feels well-built, not to mention a folding hard-top that cuts out wind noise very well.
