Best used convertibles for less than £10,000 (and the ones to avoid)
Enjoy the Great British summer while it lasts with a great-value used convertible. We’ve picked out the 10 best for £10,000...
1. Mazda MX-5
It’s a perennial drop-top favourite, but there are some very good reasons why the Mazda MX-5 is so popular. First up, it’s superb value – both cheap to buy and to run, and with a superb reputation for reliability. What’s more, while it isn’t the fastest thing on the road, the MX-5 is still enormous fun thanks to a responsive chassis and communicative steering. And where most cars come with either a fabric roof or a folding steel one, the MX-5 offers you a choice of either (we’d choose the former, mind you, as it’s lighter and makes the car feel more nimble). What more could you want from a convertible?
And the convertibles to avoid…
Saab 9-3 Convertible
It’s a handsome thing, but the Saab 9-3 Convertible’s tacky interior and floppy handling – and the fact it’s really quite expensive – mean it’s probably best avoided.
The old MG TF was updated and re-introduced in 2008, but despite this, it was still a decidedly dated car in every way, even then.
